This is James. He’s one of the guys I’ve been studying with here in England, but he started before me and was well into things when I commenced my three-year project in 2006. And today he finished! He passed his viva this afternoon and this picture was taken when he met me, Ros and Claire at a campus cafe less than 20 minutes later. We’d waited in excitement during hte two hours his viva took... Now he’s no longer James, he’s Dr Shillabeer! Of course we had a small bottle of champagne. It feels kind of strange that one of my colleagues suddenly has finished his PhD. Everything became more tangible for the rest of us today, I think.
Skål! Cheers, James!
