Bath - en engelsk perle

Jeg tilbrakte helga i Bath paa besoek hos Laura, ei venninne som jeg opprinnelig kjenner fra Canterbury. Vaeret var straalende og det er vanskelig aa forestille seg at helga kunne vaert bedre!
I spent the weekend visiting an old friend in Bath, Laura (who I know from when she lived in Canterbury) and the weekend could not have been better - weather included!


Bath Abbey, ei nydelig kirke. Jeg likte hvordan vinduene var blandet mellom glassmalerier og 'vanlige' vinduer som slapp inn lys; det ga en veldig god effekt. Det er visstnok 52 vinduer i kirka, et for hver uke i aaret. Og paa flere var faktisk damer fra bibelhistorien med som hovedmotiver - det var uvanlig.
Bath Abbey, a beautiful church. I really liked how it had a mix of stained-glass windows and 'regular' windows that let the daylight in; it gave a great effect once you were inside. Apparenty there are 52 windows in the church, and on many of the images women of the Bible were included as main motives, not as bi-persons. Fascinating.

Royal Crescent; et sted hvor ei lang rekke hus er bygd i en perfekt, stor halvsirkel med hage/park foran og fantastisk utsikt over byen.
Royal Crescent - a place where houses are built wall-to-wall in a perfect half circle. There is a garden and a park in front of it and the houses boast an amazing view over the city.


Pulteney-brua i Bath. Det er visstnok den eneste brua i Europa (utenom Venezia) hvor det er bygd hus oppaa!
