The statute of 'Mother Georgia' stands in the mountainside above Tbilisi, near the Narikala fortress, and is illuminated when the evening gets dark. You cannot tell from this picture, but in one hand she holds a glass of wine, in the other she holds a sword. This is said to reflect the Georgian personality; on the one hand enjoying wine and the produce of the land, on the other fiercly fighting off enemies, which historically have existed in abundance.
View towards the Old City (front) and central Tbilisi from Narikala. The yellow building to the left is the president's offices, the avenue 'behind' the golden statue is Rustaveli avenue, the main street in Tbilisi, and in the right-hand corner even my neighbourhood (and probably my house) can be seen.
View from inside the Narikala fortress towards the Sameba Cathedral. The zigzag on the wall is actually a stairway. The steps are about 20-25cm tall and perhaps 40 cm broad. Nothing to try if you are afraid of heights! I was here with Julie and Ann Kristin, but I was the only one of us who walked up there. And that is fair enough. The view was amazing though.
Ann Kristin, a fellow Norwegian, on the Narikala wall. A part of the Old City and the Mtkvari river to the left, the Sameba Cathedral to the right.
En del av byen paa kveldstid.
Part of Tbilisi by night.

Blir kjempegoey aa vaere her alle sammen!
